Why should her children be exempt??
It's the parent who has AA - The children have nothing to do with it |

no AA is a non taxable amount
why would her children be entitled to a tax rebate? your mother gets AA as shes over 60 and is disabled or terminally ill
if the children are on a low income make that noted on the tax form |

no and she isnt either |

it is possible that yr mother will qualify for a 25% council tax rebate depending on the illness that qualifies her for AA, if one of the children is her f/t carer that qualifies for another 25% rebate making total of 50% as long as there are no other over 18s in the house that are not f/t students. thats what we were told when we claimed as i was my mums carer and i lived there with my 19 year old daughter (f/t student) and 3 under 18 children. we qualified for 50% rebate. |

AA will not qaulify for exemption from CT but if she is in receipt of pension credit (most people over 60 are) then she will be in receipt of full council tax benefit regardless.
As for the other adults in the house.....the only person liable for CT is the one whoes name is on the bill....so if its mums name and she receives pension credit then no one else needs to pay
If your unsure contact either CAB or Age Concern for benefit advice |

Hi
I have worked for benefits for 10 years, is the parent claiming council tax benefit, if not she will need to, you do not get an exemption as there are other adults in the property who are not disabled.
Normally with council tax benefits there is a deduction made based on the other adults in the property and what their income is, however since this person is claiming attendance allowance there will be no deductions made from benefits as they would be classed as caring for her, ahe may not get full benefit depending on any other income she has such as pensions, but she should qualify for some help.
This would only apply if she is liable to pay council tax and if she is in joint ownership, only for the % she is liable for |

No, If you are having problems figuring it out go and speak to citizens advice about it. Or ring your local tax office. |
