Unemployment Benefits?
I am moving out of state (from NJ to FL), and need to collect NJ unemployment benefits until I find employment in FL. I have worked continuously for the past 3 years with same employer. I am moving for two reasons but do not know which "reason" I should tell so I do not loose my insurance benefits under the "voluntary quit with good reason": 1. My son is attending college in FL, 2. My fiancee was transferred down there. Or is there another "good reason" to tell so I don't loose my benefits?
I don't care what your reason(s) if you quit, you do not qualify for unemployment benefits.
Judy
Neither of those reasons for quitting would make you eligible for unemployment. Sounds like you're out of luck on unemployment.

You have no good reason for quitting based upon the information that you provided. You therefore are ineligible for benefits in ANY state.
Being forced to move because your SPOUSE is transferred is generally good reason. Being forced to move so that you, your spouse, or your minor dependent child can receive needed medical treatment is generally good reason. But quitting to join a b/f or g/f or to be near your child attending school away from home is NOT sufficient cause to quit and collect benefits.
You have only two choices:
1. Get married NOW so that you will be joining your spouse. Needless to say this is a poor reason to get married unless you are otherwise ready to do so anyway.
2. Convince your employer to lay you off for a lack of work. Maybe they are on the cusp of laying off staff and if this is the case they may welcome the chance to lay you off without any hard feelings.
