It's possible they found a mistake and adjusted your return - sometimes that happens (yay!) and if you had your return direct deposited they would just put the extra in your account. Look into it just to make sure though.
Also - check your mail then next few days - you may recieve a letter explaining the deposit.

MH/Citizens Protecting Rights!
If you have already received your refund and now there is a deposit to your account, you need to get verification from the bank of where it came from and have the bank give you a statement that you can send to the IRS. Do not keep the money as you will get into big trouble for keeping something that isn't yours. Also, with the current scam of people stealing refunds, you could be blamed for deliberately stealing someone else's refund if you keep it. Report it and question why it is there. If IRS says it is yours, make sure you document the date, time, and name of the person you talked to so you can use it if a question comes up in the future.

i tihnk it is a mistake look into it before you spend it otherwise you will have to pay it back

kokopelli
It could be. Once I had one of my tax payments credited to somebody else's account. You better contact them right away before you spend the money because sooner or later they will get around to figuring it out and at that point they will want it back.

Mr. Perfect
Do you own a small business? Did you file corporate taxes?

If not.... just smile and be happy!

It's possible it's a mistake, or they might have found and error in your favor and corrected it. If it's correct, you should get a letter very shortly telling you why. If you don't get that, don't spend it, and call the IRS and ask them why they sent the extra.
