love cannot be defined it has to be felt, it is unconditional acceptance of your loved ones, irrespective of the world goes upside down, you still care, give, and belive in them as you ever did, love is the greatest giff of god.

Love is what you do for yourself

love is stupidity.....but joy!

Literally it is understood as a deep attachment to someone we admire and care for... with the expectation to be reciprocated in the same spirit.. In the absence of a proper reciprocation, the lover is disappointed and dejected.. often developing a grudge for the "loved" one and even blaming him/her for the disregard...

But in essence, Love is a finer sentiment, of unconditional goodwill toward others, as many of the friends here have succinctly pointed out nicely...

Love is Giving and Forgiving.. a selfless concern for the good of all..

But mere infatuation for the physical beauty, fame, riches or some special skill possessed by someone is mistaken for love in practice...

Such feelings are based on selfish attitude like the instinct to Possess someone for their own joy.. there is little sharing and caring in such relationship and it breaks up under least provocation (since the lover can not tolerate least disregard for his wishes or even bear wtih his/her lover showing some interest in others..)

By the definition of pure love only God is the universal Lover of all... We should try to emulate His all embracing unconditional Love to all... men and women of all races, regions, languages, cultures... nay, even the animals - pets and the wild...

The very desire to develop such love would generate great magnatism in us and pull the others - animals and birds included - toward us.. Have we not seen people being drawn spontaneously to such souls like Mother Theresa,
Saint Vivekananda, MAhatma Gandhiji, Sathya Sai Baba... etc?

Gandhiji was totally comfortable in the company of his detractors as well as supporters... Mother Theresa felt attracted - without least sense of loath - to the dirty slums where people lived in inhuman ambience Such settled atheists like Rusi Karanjia (Marxist and Journalist) were drawn to Sri Sathya Sai Baba... and in the 1970s the popular journalist did not mince words while reporting the divinity and love of Sai Baba for the mankind...Such is the power of true Love ! Swami Yogananda says in his Autobiography of a Yogi (Self Realization Fellowship publication, Los Angeles) that Luther Burbank, the miracle botanist loved nature so much that he could influence thorny rose plants to shed their thorns..!

Only such sense of true Love can save the mankind from the growing turmoils of our time..

What is love? It is one of the most difficult questions for the mankind. Centuries have passed by, relationships have bloomed and so has love. But no one can give the proper definition of love. To some â€œLove is friendship set on fireâ€ for others â€œMaybe love is like luck. You have to go all the way to find itâ€. No matter how you define it or feel it, love is the eternal truth in the history of mankind.

Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy, nor it boasts itself and it is never proud. It rejoices over the evil and is the truth seeker. Love protects; preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life. Always stand steadfast in love, not fall into it. It is like the dream of your matter of affection coming true. Love can occur between two or more individuals. It bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be experienced and not just felt. The depth of love can not be measured. Look at the relationship between a mother and a child. The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all.
