WHEN IS THE SOONEST YOU CAN FILE YOUR TAXES?

January 1st. If any of your entries are incorrect, you can file an amended return later. Now that so much information is available online, people don't have to wait for their bank account information to be mailed to them. And paystubs often have "year-to-date" earnings on them so you know how much you made before the company mails you anything..

Soon as you get your W-2's from your employer and any other forms that you'll need. 1098-int, Real estate form, etc.

As soon as you receive your W2 and any other tax info.

The IRS will start accepting electronically filed returns on 1/16.
