Check your credit report, that will have every new credit account with your SS#. It happened to me twice during the past five years. |

Two things to do. Go to the Social Security website and request a statement of your account. That will tell you if someone else is using your SS # for job purposes or collecting benefits fraudulently. I know a couple of people who were originally refused benefits because they were told they were already receiving them!
Next, get a copy of your credit report. That will tell you if someone is using your social security number to get credit cards or other financial information. |

Check out your credit reports. You have a right to one free copy once a year or if you suspect you're a victim of identity theft. Don't prolong finding out. It happened to me and it took a while to get my good name back and to undo all the damage that had been done. |

www.annualcreditreport.com
it's free annually.... pull all three and check everything including your address listed and jobs. Whatever may wrong dispute, and call each company (Experian, Equifax, trans Union) to have your credit blocked for a while. You can also add a notice to your report to let potential creditors know whats going on. If your report looks insane with way to much wrong with it, than request a new # from the social security administration. |

Get a credit check, a routine part of credit checks is a check of the social security number, as to whether its been used by an individual with a different name. |
