the age limit only applies to exempt you from the dependent income limitation. if you are under 24 and a student or you are under 19, then your parents can claim you regardless of how much income you have that year, assuming that they are supporting you. if you are above those age limits, your parents can still claim you if they support you and you do not have over $3,200 of income for the year. |

I turned 18 this year, and Turbo Tax wouldn't let my dad claim my twin or me even though we were both in high school at the time, and next year we'll both be in college, so I have no idea how you're still getting claimed. |

We tried claiming my son who is 17 this year (18 in November) and IRS said we owed this year because we can't claim him. Go figure. I hate George Bush. I think he knows it. |

doesn't matter how old you are as long as you have lived in the home longer than 6 months your parents have been more of a provider to you by government standards - but if you made money they must claim it as well on their taxes |

They can claim you as long as you are dependent upon them for more than 50% of your support, if you are in school even part-time, until you are 24. If you are not in school, they can claim you until you are 19. If you are 20, living at home with your parents and not going to school at any time during the year, and your parents are supporting you, they probably can't claim you anymore, but if you are in that situation and you are not paying any rent or otherwise contributing to the household, it's probably time they make you responsible for some of your expenses and a share of the expense of home ownership. Otherwise you'll start to lose self respect. At some point, it is important to be independent. If you're not in school, 20 seems old enough. |

If you are living off of them and they are paying more than 50% of your expenses, they can claim you as a dependent. |

It depends on the state you live in but in Georgia if you're not a student the age is 18 years old to be claimed on your partents tax return |

There is no age limit for dependants. There is only an age limit when qualifying for tax credits. The age limits are; age 18 and age 24 if a student. As long as your parents provide more than 50% of your support , they can claim you. |
