You have to be 16 to enter into any legally binding contract in the UK. At 16 you are also eligible to Housing Benefit (although the amount people under 25 receive is restricted to a single room rent)

f you are 16 or over you can generally make any kind of contract. However, certain contracts made by 16/17 year olds can be set aside by the court and the validity questioned if the young person applies to court before s/he is 21. This means that some people may be reluctant to make a contract with a 16/17 year old in case it is set aside later on. For example, a young person may find it difficult to buy or sell a house.

I think it's 16, though it's often hard to find someone willing to rent to someone so young.

as the others have said, 18 unless a parent signs but you may hit a stumbling block if they want to do a credit check, no credit history can be as bad as bad credit history as they have nothing to go on

basically
over 16's can rent accomadation
as long as parent or gardian sign the tennancy contract
so yeah you can
heres a website telling it you in detail
good luck!

No age limit as such, but under 18 your signature is not binding and you should preferably have someone 18 or over to sign as Guarantor (in other words, promise to be responsible for your Tenancy and any Rent Arrears.

Happy house hunting. (Don't get ripped off. I am a landlord and worry about young people in particular. Make sure that any Bond/Deposit is registered . Ask again if stuck).

tanika971
i believe you have to be 18 to be able to sign a contract ( rental agreement) and you might have to have a guarantee as your under 18. so 1 of your parents would have to help you out. or a responsible adult

Ross T
Hiya,

you need to be 18 as you are signing a legal contract (an assured shorthold tenancy)

the guru
I thought u had to be 18!
