Sawako | What If I forgot to submit the IRS form by deadline? |
I was an exchange student, and went to america only 4 months, and needed to mail the IRS from by deadline after I came back to my country ( maybe to claim that I do not need to pay tax?). However, I forgot to submit that, and almost 1 month past from the deadline. I called to the IRS government yesterday, and he said I have to attach the letter why I was late for submitting the form. But I am so worried if It would not be accepted, and could not renter the U.S in the future.
I know it is my fault, but is there anyone knows about this case? Because of my limitation language skill, I only could listen part of what he said to me. Please help me.. |

Submit the form with a brief note explaining why you missed the deadline. It will not be a problem. |

The form will be accepted, and it will not prevent you from entering the U.S. in the future. The worst thing that might happen is that, if your letter is not acceptable, then you will have to pay a small penalty (fine) for not sending the form on time. |
