Since you paid the $14K for mortgage interest and property taxes, yes it will lower your tax bill some, probably several hundred to a thousand dollars |

Maybe....
Interest paid on a mortgage is deductible while rent is not.
Don't look for a huge tax impact in the year that you bought, especially if you closed in the latter half of the year.
Last week, we had a client get physically upset because they did not get the "huge refund" that her real estate agent and mortgage broker told her that they would. |

Hard to say without knowing your exact tax situation. But if you usually get money back, then you will most likely get more money back when you file your 2008 tax return. You can deduct mortgage interest, property taxes. |

You can declare the mortgage interest paid on your income tax return. You can also declare the school taxes paid and the property taxes paid. |

You can itemize your deductions on a 1040 or 1040a. The interest paid on your mortgage and local taxes can be deducted, as well as certain qualifying improvements you made, and certain other expenses.
There are also big tax breaks if you run a business out of your home. |

Lower tax bracket
possibly your interest is tax deductible. |

There are none. If you own a home, you pay outrageous property taxes and if you ever need help from the government, chances are - you won't get it! In America, it doesn't pay to own anything. You can write your taxes off on your tax return but unless you have a lot of deductions or pay a lot of taxes, it is really no advantage. The only thing is self-satisfaction of owning your own home. |

heh. I wouldnt think there are any tax advantages. |
