Can I call the IRS and have them give me the numbers?

There is a process for requesting a copy of your return from the IRS. There will be a form to fill out and I believe they charge a fee for this service. Did you prepare the return yourself or did you have a paid preparer? If you used a paid preparer, they should have a copy of it. They would be much quicker than the IRS.

tellme.lies
Contact the IRS. They can send copies of your returns.

Grant Ray came on 12/8/08!
Get a hold of the company or accountants who did your taxes and get copies sent or faxed to you.

lmao don't call the IRS they'll put you on hold for about 300 hours. Go to where you got your taxes done and ask them for a copy, trust me, they save all that stuff!

binda
your tax preparer should have a copy of your return

You could go to irs.gov, not irs.com. Best bet is to call your tax professional. They are required to keep 4 year- hard copies. Typically they will also have up to 7 years in the computer system.

Yes, you should be able to get the info from the IRS. If you need the previous W2s, you should be able to call the employer(s) and get copies of those. It depends on what you need that info for. If you are looking at getting some type of loan and need it for that, there is the option of having the previous employer(s) do a verification for you with your permission to release the info.

There's a form you can file and the IRS will send you the pertenant information. Check www.IRS.gov for Form 4506 (Request for Copy of Tax Return) or Form 4506T (Request for Transcript of Return),
