What do I do if my old employer fails to send me my W2s from the past year?
I have a deadbeat former employer and I'm fairly certain that he won't send me a W2 for the time I worked for him. I am unsure how to even get a hold of him since his business has since gone bankrupt. What should I do if he doesn't send me a W2 form?

The easiest thing to do is go to www.IRS.gov, call them up, and ask them what to do. Alternatively, you might find your answer in the www.IRS.gov FAQ section.

The following information comes from the link: http://taxes.about.com/od/formw2/a/IRSFormW2.htm

"If your employer still refuses to give you Form W-2, call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. The IRS advises that you should have the following information ready:

The employer's name and complete address, including zip code, the employer’s identification number (if known), and telephone number,
Your name and address, including zip code, Social Security number, and telephone number; and
An estimate of the wages you earned, the federal income tax withheld, and the dates you began and ended employment. (From Missing Your Form W-2?)"

I didn't have a W-2 for a company I worked for, and I called the IRS and asked them what to do.

They sent me the copy the employer sends to them so I could fill out my tax return.

Best of luck.

Theoretically, you should explain the situation in a letter that you will file with your tax return. You give a best estimate of your income from that source and add it to your gross income.

Realistically, you shouldn't bring it up, because odds are a zillion to one that you'll get away with not reporting that income, and if they got your letter they wouldn't believe you anyway and they'd up your income, according to a schedule of your occupation, all the way to the top.

Ms. Angel..
Contact IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to report your employer, but really should of been done after Jan 31 of the given year. Make sure to have your employer "business name" address at the time and any other information to help IRS locate them.
At the same time request IRS to provide you with copies of the w2, they will send them to you with in 10 business days.
An if you didn't file your federal tax return IRS will give you so many days to file the return.

They are required to have your W2 postmarked by the 31st of January. If they don't, contact the IRS. They will tell you what to do and then fine the crap out of your employer.

Chris
call them or report them to the IRS

I pretty sure he will send it because if he doesn't then the government will go after him.

Do you still have your last pay stub? Everything on the last paystub will be on your W-2.

Big Bow shob
Call a lawyer, they should have the correct advice prob free if they are a good one.

Send a letter to them stating you will contact the Better Business Bureow, might scare them.

Or just lie on your taxes and find one on google :)
