What do I have to do to receive the $300 rebate if I don't file taxes.?
What is the process for me to receive the $300 rebate for persons who don't file taxes but earn a minimum of $3,000 per year. Are there special forms to fill? How will they know to send the check if there are not tax forms filed?

there is nothing that anybody needs to do

the government will already know who gets what and how much

they were talking on the news this morning that the checks will automatically be mailed....nothing for the consumers to do except wait for it in the mail

You have to file taxes to get the rebate.

I am not sure that you are eligible for the $300 rebate. The IRS is going to be sending the money based on people who have paid taxes. I have not heard of special provisions for people who do not pay taxes to get the rebate.

The "bonus" is just a forward of your tax refund. If you don't file, you don't get it.

Looks like the questioner understands the stimulus plan better than the answerers. Those who do not pay taxes because they earn too little but who earned more than $3000 last year (it's close for me--I'm not sure if I crossed that line) still get $300, half as much as taxpayers get. But if you don't owe taxes (and like me, claim "exempt" on your W-4), you aren't required to file an income tax return. So the question is: what do I, and the person who posed this question, need to do to get the rebate checks? Will they just be sent to our addresses anyway, the addresses listed on our W-4? I don't know and I would like to know.

Spock (rhp)
the news reports say [Congress hasn't passed the bill, so we're all working from what the news reports say the House agreed to]

that everyone who files income taxes for 2007, or has $3,000 of credited wage income for 2007, will be automatically included in the eligible pool.

that doesn't mean they'll get anything -- "rich" people aren't included and "rich" apparently starts at an annual income of $75k if single and $150k if married. [You show me anyone living or working in NYC on those figures and they'll be middle class at best.]

Iam F
I am a tax agent and i know as long as you have paid taxes regardless of when you filed you are very much so getting the rebate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
