What do you do if you think too much tax is being deducted from your monthly salary?
Who do you inform to get it corrected?

Anne K T
go straight to the payroll department of your company or failing that the lady who does the wages, it may be just a mistake, or emergency tax due to you working again after a long time unemployed. Failing that a citizens advice bureau has expertise in this or your local trade Union.

sally
Telephone the HM Revenue & Customs office, they are very helpful and will tell you what you want to know.

You can also check their website.......

.......'corrected' hahahahaa. stop! hahahahah 'corrected' hahaha I'm going to wet myself..... corrected hahaha..... oh dear

The Rugby Player
If your only income is your salary it should be easy to correct the mistake. Any body with some basic maths skills and the tax calculation leaflet should be able to calculate the taxes due and than contact the tax office for the corrections.

If you have any other income you better employ an accountant.

sirberty127

Ask them to look at you tax payment for the last 2 years, you should get a tax refund.

Contact your taxation office and they will give you a form to fill in and send back. From the information given they will give you a tax code. They might also send the code direct to your employers for the accounts dept. They will then deduct the correct amount according to your code. If you have paid too much you will get a rebate but if you have paid too little then they will collect the outstanding amount by an adjustment of your tax code. The tax people must be your first place to contact.

What i usually do is
reach for the kleenex

"read em and weep"

To get it corrected permanently you could try emigrating

You can go to the HM revenue and customs site and theres a program to work out your wage, if the tax your paying is to high you can inform the payroll clerk at your job or contact your local tax office (they'll be listed somewhere on the site too).
