It's up to you if you want to turn them in or not, but Section 7623 of the Internal Revenue Code and the regulations under it permit the Internal Revenue Service to pay a reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the detection and punishment of anyone violating the internal revenue laws.

Tell them to deal with it before they end up in jail. "The" Wesley Snipes: 3 years for tax evasion.

Anastasia Beaverhousen
Let them know the longer they run the worse the punishment.

Nothing, unless they ask for advice. My advice is to tell them the consequences of not filing taxes. In your case, advise them to seek a consultation with a tax professional or attorney.

Well if they are the everyday person with no business or major assets good luck, they wont go after someone who has nothing. It is not worth it. They only try to get money that they have a chance of actually getting. They wont pursue a broke person who doesn't file cause they are losers, believe me. My ex has not filed since we divorced in 01 I called cause he owes me back child support and they have an order to intercept any income tax refund, but you would have to file to get that. they more or less said, not worth even looking into. You cant milk a turnip!

Unless you have PROOF of some illegal activity, you don't do anything.

If you turn them in to IRS and they collect a lot of back taxes you may get a reward.

I am a CPA and deal with the IRS all the time. The only advice I would give you is don't get attached financially. The IRS is very good at finding people. Your Friend most likely is not endanger of going to jail but he or she will not be able to hold a job for a long time. What happens is after you get a job the company submits paper work to the state and federal governments. After a few months his or her name will show up on some date base and the IRS will contact the employer and garnish his or her wages. If this person has been running for a long time the IRS can take all of there wages. People on the run will quit there job and find a different one.

This is a bad pattern because this person will never have a career. They will work 15 jobs in 10 years and never move up because they cant stay at a job for any time.

I would suggest to this person to contact the IRS and work out. There are a lot nicer then people think. They have payment plans and some times amnesty.

Turn them in and save them the hassle of paying all that gas money to evade the IRS.

If he turns himself in and tries to work with them, they often give a discount for what you owe.

Hey, are you friends with Wesley Snipes? COOL!

Is there some kind of reward for turning them in? If they're a jerk, do it! Get the money and get the leech off of the system and have them start paying or put their sorry butt in jail.
