As long as certain security issues are ironed out it is a great way to store information and get access to things.
The fact that it will stop all those welfare cheats is a really good thing. |

No it is just another way for our government to invade on our privacy and all by having a central location of everyone personal information it might give hackers an opportunity to steal people's identity |

Yes I would use it. My drivers licence has lapsed because it's easier for me to use trains. |

i believe it would be very handy if it contained things such as your blood type, doctors name, next of kin and such.
But I'm a bit iffy seeing as the government is behind it.
They already know most of my life without filling in the blanks! |

Yes I think it would be o.k but personaly I would not use it. |

No. There's no difference anyway terrorist or illegal migrants will find ways to blend it's a matter of having a very tight security and very good and conscientious PM and leader's running the government. |

I wouldnt want to use it - surely it makes it heaps easier to steal peoples identities? I know that big brother is always watching, but this is going too far - people have a right to privacy |

What's the differenc between a national ID card and a photo drivers license.Big brother is always watching anyway so a national ID wont make a difference |

I believe it is a great idea. There are still those among us who dont have licenses for various reasons.I am one of them.Time and time again I get asked for photo I.D. I will be getting one. |

I think the national ID card will help to weed out the illegals in the country. It is your right in the country. Your driving license is only right to drive. |

I can see there is a few very sheltered n small minded people answering this question. Identification card is a great thing to b introduce, it works everywhere in other develope countries. As it is we r about few years behind time. Driver's licence is for people that has attain the rights to drive on the road. Identification card is to identify a person. There will always be its good points n bad point no matter what ever it is being introduce.People r afraid of changes thats why they making a fuss.
Im all for the identification card - Bring it on!!!!! |

I think it's an absolute invasion of our privacy and it's more to do with the Government controling us rather than terroists! Jules, Australia. |

not overly happy about the idea but I don't think theres much anyone can do about it, it seems as though its the next logical step in identity helping prevent fraud etc |

No, some hacker with half a brain could crack into the government system, find your address, see your income (thinkin they would have it) see if your rich or not, if you are then they are either in your house or stealing all your money from the bank. so definately not |

A national ID that could elliminate cards such as Centrelink, Medicare, drivers licence etc would be fantatsic. |

No. It's just asilly way to have more control over people. If you had left you card on the table, or in another pair of pants, you would be a terrorist. |

Yes.I'd go further and implant an tiny chip on every single child over the age of five This chip would contain vital data about that person. It could also be located by satellite No more missing persons,no more illegals. This data base to be totally impregnable.Administered by three eminent citizens Certainly no law enforcement agency,or governmant body whatsoever, should ever have in any way of access to this data base.Breaches of the data base should incur extremely heavy penalties.Minimum 10 years in high security prison Preferably with hard labor. |

A national id card is being evaluated in Australia at the moment, I think that it would be a good thing as far as stopping others using your name or getting hold of your credit card etc. The final details haven't been worked out by our Govt. but yes, I think we need something to stop fraud. |

Sure! why not? As long as i don't i have to pay for it |

Many countries around the world, including my country of origin, have national ID cards. They never did anyone any harm. In fact, they've been a great help.
There are far worse "big-brother" things around than National ID cards. I think ID cards would be a great improvement in anglo-saxon countries.
Cheers,

Yeah, it'll be great. Why not? Not everyone can pass their driving test, right? And the Proof Of Age doesn't have residential address on it, so a national ID card with name & Address & photograph will be wonderful. |
