What do you think of a (sales) tax-free holiday (weekend) in your state? Is there one or would you like one? Additional Details There is one in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, that I know of.
Some states have a tax free weekend. They may have tax free holidays too. I know Michigan doesn't. They want their money!

It is nice, but not completely necessary. The items which are not taxed are restricted to items of apparel under $100 here in Texas. So unless you are planning to purchase tons of clothing during this weekend anyhow, it does not amount to significant savings. It's basically a sale of 8.125%, and who really gets excited over an 8% discount?

I live in Oregon, and EVERY weekend is a (sales) tax-free weekend! (weekday's too!) (but you can't pump your own gas.(seriously(unless you have a classic car... then you can.)))

We have a tax free week in CT every year that falls the week before most towns are going back to school in August. Applies on all purchases less then $300 I think.
