What does a $65,000 a year salary equal to as hourly pay?

There are 2080 hours in a standard work year, so divide the salary by 2080 to arrive at $31.25 per hour. Keep in mind that at that salary you're likely to put in more than 40 hours per week on average. I'm on salary and work 50 hours in a typical week and as much as 70 in some weeks. This would result in a somewhat lower hourly rate as most folks on salary are exempt from the wage & hour laws and don't receive overtime pay.

Katherine
$31.25 per hour if divided by an average 40 hr work week.

take 65,000
divide by 52 weeks
then by 40 hours a week
gives you an hourly rate 31.25

$65,000 divided by 52 weeks divided by 40 hours = $31.25 per hour. If you work more hours, then it's less than that per hour.

rickyroo58
Well of course it depends on how many hours a week you work. But as someone else said, based on 40 hours a week it would be $31.25/hour.

jess
didvide 65,000 by12 to get per month then that amt. by 30 to get daily rate then that amt. by 8 to get hourly amt.
