What does it mean to be vested?
As a vested member (48 contributions or more) Taxable amounts to be withheld for income tax..Does this mean I get to keep the earnings from the employer's contributions as well or just what I vested?

Your vested income is usually in some form of a retirement plan I'm assuming? The vested amount is the actual amount you can withdraw from this account or borrow against. All contributions will become yours to keep after the prearranged waiting period; 5 years, 7 years etc. I hope this helps.

These folks will answer all your tax questions.

you prefer a vest over your shirt, and not a jacket. and some vest come in short sleeves, so you are able to show off the sleeves of your shirt. And lets face it, when you walk in a room with guts on wearing a vest, you look much more smarter in deed.

Being "vested" means that you have absolute ownership of something, but drawing on that something may be delayed to a future date. Tax considerations can be all over the map.

Stock is vested when you have a right to keep it. Even if you sell or not.

In law, vesting is to give an immediately secured right of present or future enjoyment. In plain English, one has a right to a vested asset that cannot be taken away by any third party, even though one may not yet possess the asset
