What happens if I already filed my taxes and recieved another w2 in the mail a week later?
I worked 3 jobs last yr & I totally forgot about one. Didnt work that long but made a big chunk of money for the small amount of time I did work.
You need to go have your taxes amended before the April 15 deadline. Hard lesson learned, I did this once, totally forgot. The IRS will NOT forget. The employer sent your wage information in to the IRS.

You will need to amend your return once your original one is processed and the refund received. You will use IRS Form 1040X, available at www.irs.gov.

You file an amended tax form . I've done it numerous times because w2 was first missing or never showed up and I forgot about it until it did come (late ) or I remembered it and contacted the employer . I've also filed an amended because because the info in the original W2 changed , IE the taxable income reported increased or decreased . This could be from something that was prorated at a much later date , disability or numerous other items that took a long time to get a final reading or determination thru a court , etc. The amended form may go back to several years and cause you to also file for all those years in between . Either way you can do it yourself or go to a professional to help. When it comes to covering several years and/ or a large sum I go to a pro!
