What happens if I cannot pay what I owe on my taxes?

You can ask the IRS to set up an installment plan for you by filing Form 9465. You will have to pay a one-time $43 setup fee plus penalty and interest. On the form, you must indicate how much your propose to pay them each month. To determine this figure, take your amount owed and divide it by 20 (you will pay them back over two year with penalty and interest). This will be pretty close to what you will need to pay.

Another alternative is file your return without payment and wait for the IRS to send you a bill. When you get the bill, send them what you can and wait for another bill. Then send what you can. You can keep this up until they decide to put you on a plan. You might be able to avoid the $43 setup fee.

Whatever you do, you will have to pay the amount you owe or face some possibly serious consequences.

if its a small amount you could come up with in about 5-7 weeks, just send in your return BY april 15, and they will send you a little note stating that you "forgot" to pay this, so you need to enclose a check. if its a large amount, then you need to contact them double quicktime and try to arrange payments.

File an extension...I think there's a great majority of people doing that this year.

You can pay them with a charge card, get a loan or arrange with the IRS to make payments.

GO TO JAIL ,DIRECTLY TO JAIL,HE,HE,HE

They take your Hunting Dog. IF, you not have a Hunting Dog, you may try calling your local IRS. I believe they may be able to give you a payment schedule. The IRS just wants their piece of the pie, if, they feel they get it, then they pretty easy to work with. ;-)

Submit your tax forms with no payment. Attach a letter stating that you cannot pay, but want to make monthly payments. The IRS will send you a form to fill out, like a loan form, and you complete and come up with a monthly payment. My husband and I had to do it when we were first married. It really wasn't too bad.

go to jail

The IRS can attach a lean on any salary, go to court and get you for evasion, etc. It really depends on the amount and if you have contacted them in their office to discuss the situation, they will most often accept payments if you arrainge it.

If your property taxes are not paid, such property could be foreclosures by the tax collector or the city where the property is located,if you are talking about personal taxes, the IRS,the most power full institution in this country, could put a lien on your salary and get their money from there, with a high interest rate.If you don't have a job, they will go again to your personal properties. If they can't get their money that way;sorry, you go to jail.

Goto www.irs.gov and then goto individual, there are a few options. Fill out the extension paperwork, or the late pay and you can get a payment schedule made for you.
