Well, if you don't pay your local property taxes--the ones that support your local schools--you'll get a visit from the sheriff and he'll sell your house and/or car for you.
You don't have any choice about paying state sales taxes.
Now, your Federal taxes aren't going to other people's children, for the most part. They go to train, pay and equip the military, and fix the roads, and run the weather bureau, and maintain safety standards in mines, and enforce Federal laws, and pay farmers to help feed _you._ And unless you're running your own business, you don't have much choice about paying income taxes--they're already extracted from your paycheck.
At least that's the case in the US. If you're from elsewhere, your tax burden is likely a good deal higher than ours. |

if you choose not to pay taxes, eventually during your life it will catch up to you and you will be audited and when you tell them what you just typed here, you will be put in jail. Remember, Al Capone did not go to jail for killing people or being a mobster, but because he did not report his income and pay taxes.
You might be single with no kids now, but when you do your opinion will change. Also, paying taxes is the least you can do for your country, pay the government employees what they deserve, put better books in classrooms that are needed and other great stuff. If you dont like paying taxes maybe you should consider choosing a different country to reside in. |

Do you drive on a street? Drink clean water? Fly in a safe airplane? Eat uncontaminated food? You can thank yourself and other taxpayers for providing the service.
However, be aware that most of your taxes go to pay for defense-related expenses. Also a large chunk goes to the national debt.
Penalties for tax evasion can run up to $25,000 and/or two years in prison. |

First they take everything they can by putting a levy on your back accounts and anything else they can find. Then if they don't find enough that way they put you in jail. I agree its not fair but that's democracy in action. Good luck on not paying! |

I have a good Idea,you dont have to pay taxes and you dont have to go to jail.Just plan to go to live in another poor country like Kampuchea Vietnam.People in there dont have to pay tax to goverment,and the goverment dont have to take care them(build school,road,public ,restroom on freeway...)if mother nature like tonatoes,hurricane hit,it ts not government job ...how do you feel?I am sorry to bring this up,just want to give you an Idea why we have to pay taxes. |
