What if I owe a Federal Loan? They already took my Tax returns, will they they take my stimulus check too?

Why, are you not making payments on your federal loan? If you are behind on paying your federal loan and they took your tax returns, I find it highly unlikey you will get your stimulus check.

It depends. Was your tax liability paid in full when they intercepted your return? If yes, then you will get one. If not, then it will be applied to your liability.

If you still owe them money then yes.

By law, the stimulus payments are offset to satisfy past-due taxes, student loans, child support and certain other debts.

If you still owe more, they will take it - the rebate is treated just like any other federal refund for purposes of offset for back taxes, back child support or defaulted student loans

MISS JENN
Yes, they can take all or part of it

Cat
If you still owe, yes, they'll take it.

aprillynn215
YES! They will take all of it if you owe over the amount you should receive or part of it if the amount owed is less than your stimulus payment.

Yep, if you still owe, they will take it.

marzing8
it depends on if when they took your taxes it payed off the loan if not then the remaining bal will be taken from the stimulus payment and if there is any left from that then you will get the remainder of that

This is a very good question.

Child Support Payments

Are you being garnished for the federal loan?

Here is the phone # for the stimulus check.. It will ask for your ss# and how you filed. I also believe it will help you figure out if you are getting a check.. I believe you had to receive a letter stated you were eligible.
