What if you have'nt filed federal taxes for years?
10 years

then you probably shouldn't be advertising it, especially here. so unless you want to pay for all those back taxes-hide, hide far far away.

If you haven't worked in 10 years making enough money to pay taxes or don't need to file taxes for some reason then it does not matter.
But, if you did work, and should have reported taxes for the last ten years then I say OH OH.
And I have two suggestions. The first is learn to speak Spanish fluently and head south.
The second is to get myself an accountant and a lawyer and follow their advice...pronto

If you had refunds coming, then no problem except you have forfeited any refunds from 2004 or earlier. If you owed, though, now you owe additional money for interest and penalties.

If you have been working as an employee and had taxes withheld, and the IRS hasn't contacted you by now, odds are that you had refunds. You still are legally required to file, but if they owe you rather than you owing them for any given year, they really don't care a lot if you ever file for that year.

CG
Have you paid taxes? If they owed you all those years, don't worry about it. However if you owed them, don't try to get a loan until you take care of that. They know who you are!!

If you are entitled a refund, then nothing. You can still file for the previous three years (05, 06, & 07) and receive your refund. There is no penalty for not filing if you were due a refund. The years prior to 2005, you lost out on. If you owed for any of those years, the IRS will get around to coming after you. You will owe your tax plus interest and penalties. Failure to pay will result in your bank accounts being frozen, liens placed on your property, and finally imprisonment. Hopefully, you were entitled a refund!!

Boy, you have no excuse what-so-ever. You must be financially illiterate and just lazy.

I believe that you may have a couple pf years to file your taxes as long as you do not owe any taxes, but once you have completed them and you find out you owe, beware they will charge you a penalty for every month that you did not file for 10 years and that can get pricey. check with the IRS website, just be on the safe side

Ms. Angel..
By law you are required to file you federal taxes timely, you do have 3 years to claim your refund.
Apparently you don't make enough for IRS to contact you to file.. Or at this time IRS could have filed for you and you owe and have ignored IRS letters.
Contact IRS to find out what years you are required to file which IRS will request returns for 2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 even though you will not get refunds for 2001 2002 2003 and 2004 you are required to file. Hurry up and file 2005 by April 15, 2009 to be able to claim your refund.
IRS will send you all the (W2/1099) wage information they have on file for you.
1-800-829-1040 and visit IRS website for form and instruction to file your returns.

If you have not filed for 10 years and not heard from IRS, you probably do not owe anything or at least not much or IRS would have filed returns for you. As a matter of general policy, IRS will solicit filing of six years worth of delinquent returns and not look back further except in very unusual situations.

Call the IRS and they will let you know which years you need to file. It may not be all of them.

I don't know how you got away with it, the IRS will eventually find you, though.

If they suspect you of deliberate tax evasion, there is no Statute of Limitations.

If, however, you have been paying taxes through paycheck withholding, AND should have had a refund every year - then file amended 1040Xs to claim your accumulated refund.

I kind of doubt that's your case, as most folks know enough to claim money due them.

So, I've gotta assume you owe back taxes and penalties.

Suggest you check with a good tax attorney.
