PAYE is the Schedule E tax your employer deducts from you each month. You are £60 better off this month because of the backlash the Government had when it was realised that the lower paid would be paying more tax with the abolition of the 10% tax band. as it was too late to include in budget, computer software had to be amended, forms printed, and employers instructed, it couldn't be implemented until now, although it is retrospective back to last April.
You should be £10 a month for the erst of this tax year, which ends on 5th April. |

PAYE is the tax that gets taken out of your salary or wages every time you are paid. You are paying tax as you earn. There are different levels of tax for different levels of pay - in a year, you might pay too little, so you get a bill. Or you might pay too much, so you get a refund.
Well done. Don't spend it all at once. |

In the UK everyone used to be able to earn £5435 in a tax year before being taxed on amounts above. The taxation rate is 20%. Your tax code was probably 543L.
People in employment have tax and national insurance contributions deducted at source by their employers, who pay the government the amount by the 20th of the next month. This ongoing payments system is called.
Pay
As
You
Earn
The benefit is that for many people they don't have to complete a tax return each year, nor do they have to suddenly find extra money if they had forgotten to save to pay their tax bills.
Due to the 10% tax fiasco in April the Government decided to increase everyone's personal allowance BY £600.00 (to 603L). This means that in a year you would pay £120.00 less tax (20% of £600).
However the tax year is not finished we are in month 6 of the year:-
April = 1: May = 2: June = 3: July = 4: August = 5: September = 6 etc
So you have actually paid half of £120.00 too much i.e £60.00 - and this money has been paid back to you.
For the remainder of the year (6 months) you will receive £10 a month extra so that the total in the tax year is £120.00.
The reason why the allowance was increased is that the Government originally taxed the first £1200 of income over the personal allowance at 10% (10% of £1,200 is £120) thus the poorer workers lost out by £120 per year - as income increased the loss decreased as the tax rate has been reduced to 20% from 22% so people over £17000 a year actually gained.
Finally the Government reduced the level at which tax increased to 40% by the same £1,200 from £36,000 taxable to £34,800 taxable so people on high incomes did not benefit (They did increase the maximum amount at which NI is paid at 12% from £600 per week to £700 per week though). |

It's a rebate, 'cause you have overpaid, PAYE is pay as you earn. |
|

It stands for Pay As You Earn. I think the reason you get rebates is because you seem unlikely to reach the limit (which was about £4700 last year but may now be higher) and so do not qualify to have to pay tax. |
