What is Stamp Duty on a house?
If I buy a house at £150,000 what will I have to pay, and does it come out as a seperate bill or is it included in the price of the house?

Thanks for any help.

You pay it on top of the purchase price.
You pay to your solicitor normally who passes to Revenue.
If you don't pay, your property won't be entered in the Land Registry which proves you're the legal owner.

Worth checking if the area is classed as 'disadvantaged' or not - your solicitor can help. If so, any price up to £150k is exempt from tax and you wouldn't want to pay a penny more as tax would become 1% of price. It doesn't have to be a horrible area to be 'disadvantaged' - some up and coming areas are.

If its not in a disadvantaged area, the rate will be 1% for any price between £125k and £250k. Below £125k its 0%, after £250k, its 3%.

Hi you can login into - www.houseweb.co.uk/house/market/sdutycal...
it has a stamp duty calculator which will help you calculate the amount

Inkskipp
It's a tax - simply for the pleasure of getting registered. For a £150,000 property, you would pay 1% or £1500. Stamp duty is not included in the price of a house.

bijjee
which state----varies

Stamp duty is to do with Tax payments. Thats all I know as I live in a council house for £15 00 a week.

gym
separate bill, not sure if there is stamp duty on a £150k, all i know is that it dramatically increases after £250k, i think its a couple grand below £250k, and £7k above £250k
