What is meant by "gross pay"?

DC13
your "gross pay" is what you get paid before any deductions are taken out, such as taxes and insurance

. .
Gross pay is the amount before taxes and other deductions are taken out of the paycheck.

raysor
Gross means before any deductions. Net is after deductions (say Tax or NI)

Gross pay = how much you should be taking home.
Net pay = how much you end up taking home after the government sucks the life out of your pay.

Trouble
'Gross pay' is TOTAL of Amount you've earned BEFORE Deductions.
"NET Pay" is what you RECEIVE AFTER Taxes & Deductions have been Taken out.
