What is meant by thresh hold?

Lazarus
As this question appears in Taxes & Australia I am assuming you are talking about a tax free threshold which means if you are an Australian resident for tax purposes the first $6000 you earn in a year of income is tax free.

First of all its Threshold,

I hope one of these will answer your question:

Thresholding (image processing), segmenting an image into black or white for computer vision.
Action potential threshold, point of the membrane potential curve at which action potential is initiated
Lasing threshold, the minimum power level in optics at which a laser starts to operate
Sensory threshold, one of the nine aspects of temperament in psychology
Threshold cryptosystem, a system requiring collaboration of a minimum number of parties to decrypt a message

I see that this is posted in the Australian category but in America a thresh hold is just something that seperates something else, for example. When you're on a train and you're about to get off there's that little space between the cement and the train, that would be a thresh hold. Another example would be the wood or other material that seperates different flooring.

I hope I answered your question!

Could be the entrance to a building...like, a door. Could also be any place or point of entering or beginning.

"He walked through the threshold into the house." (used as a point of entry)
"This is the threshold of my new career." (used as a beginning)

Queequeg
A thresh is the area a door or divider covers to block entrance or exit. It's hold is how well it secures the entrance without allowing air through it.

wow these are dumb ansers a threshold is when you at the range of something and it cant drop or increae, a example is if u you work out ever day but are on vacation but dont want to be unfit after vacation you do just enough exercise to keep you where your at

It is actually threshold.

It means a gate, door, or boundary
It is basically the end of someting, like a surrounding fence and the area within it.

Example: A castle surrounded by a mote. The area within the mote is a threshold of sorts!

Have a nice day! :)

The word "threshold," like "thresh," is Old English in origin and dates to before the twelfth century. Both OE words appear to relate to the movement of one's feet; thresh (OE threscan) meaning to stamp or trample and threshold (OE therscwold) being a place to step.
