What is the LEAST amount of money you can get back on your stimulus check?
I have heard that it's $300 and I have also heart that it's $600... I am SINGLE with zero dependants and no spouse... so, what's the LEAST amount of money I should get on my stimulus check?

Go to www.irs. gov/app/espc/ and enter the information from your tax return and it will tell you what you'll be getting.

SCH
$300 is the MINIMUM you can get

$600 is the MAXIMUM you can get

If your tax liability was between those two amounts (for example if your net tax liability was $424 then your rebate will be that amount)...remember that tax liability is the amount of tax you owe after credits...it is not the amount you paid out of your paycheck in taxes.

The IRS has a very accurate calculator that can tell you to the dollar what you are getting...

It depends on your AGI.

1) Individual with wages of $4,000, no federal income tax liability.
Individual rebate is $300

2) Individual with no wages, veterans’ payments of $2,000, social security benefits of $2,000, no federal income tax liability.
Individual rebate is $300

3) Individual with no wages, no social security benefits, veterans’ payments of $4,000, no federal income tax liability.
Individual rebate is $300

4) Individual with no wages, no social security benefits, no veterans’ benefits, AGI is $10,000, federal income tax liability is $125.
Individual rebate is $300

5) Individual with AGI is $12,000, federal income tax liability is $325.
Individual rebate is $325

6) Individual with AGI is $35,000, federal income tax liability in excess of $600.
Individual rebate is $600

7) Individual with AGI is $80,000, federal income tax liability in excess of $600.
Individual rebate is $600
Phase out reduction is ($250)
TOTAL is $350

Its $600. Because filing single is $600, filing joint is $1,200 and each child you claim is $300.00 each. And it does depend on what you made last year too

$1.

For a single person with no children, you calculate it as follows.

Let "X" be $600 reduced by 5% of the amount your AGI (form 1040 line 37) exceeds $75,000.
Let "T" be your net income tax liability (form 1040 line 52 plus line 57).
Calculate "R" as follows:
If T > $600, R is $600
If $300 <= T <= $600, R is T.
If T < $300, then R is T, unless you have at least $3000 in quasi-earned income (wages, net self-employment income, social security, and some veterans benefits), in which case R is $300.

Finally, R is reduced by 5% of the amount your AGI (line 37 of form 1040) exceeds $75000, but not below 0.

Super high AGI could lose it in a phaseout.

People who jury-rigged MFS returns hoping to get a bigger payout will be disappointed as well.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service has begun to transfer economic stimulus payments to millions of Americans, some of whom will see payments in their bank accounts as early as today.

The IRS will issue payments of up to $600 ($1,200 for married couples) plus $300 for eligible children younger than 17, throughout the spring and summer. The first wave of payments will go to people who opted for direct deposit on their 2007 income tax returns.

“People who chose direct deposit will receive their economic stimulus payments the quickest,” IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said. “We know there are many people who are eligible for an economic stimulus payment who have not filed a tax return. If you think you may be eligible, even if you don’t normally file a tax return, please check it out. And, use direct deposit to get your payment faster.”

Whether a taxpayer opted for direct deposit determines how soon the payment will arrive. The first cycle of paper checks will be mailed starting May 9.

Even people who normally do not have a filing requirement may be eligible for the stimulus payment. People who have no filing requirement must have at least $3,000 in qualifying income. Qualifying income includes any combination of earned income, nontaxable combat pay they elect to include in earned income and certain payments from Social Security, Veterans Affairs and Railroad Retirement.
