What is the MINIMUM amount you can make for the year and be required to file taxes?
OR what is the MOST you can make and NOT have to file? (same difference)

also if you dont file this year...would it be possible to file for both your 2005 and 2006 taxes next year?

my job mailed my w2 off to the wrong address and im quite certain trying to have a new one sent before april 15 is not gonna happen...

thanks in advance...

This year the amount you have to make in order to file is $8,200. An the minimum amount to make if anyone is claiming you is $3,200. If you made less than $8,200 and had federal with holdings (box 2 in your W-2) you are entitled to receive all back as a refund.
You could also use your last paycheck stub and file without your w-2. and yes you can file both 2005 and 2006 at the same time.

You have to make at least $600.00 to file.

a_screamobassist
I think it is $8000 or less you dont have to file.

I depends on the state your in. You have to file every year for taxes...if not this is called tax evasion. You may get audited in the future. I would call a tax preparer to find out what you can do about missing W2s. I beleive there is a default minimum total income that one can make in a year. Somewhere between 500 and 800 bucks
