WHO am i? | What is the average wage in the uk? |
and how is it worked out? |
|

The national average based on UK PAYE returns as reported by the media recently was said to be close to £32k
this however included a range of bonus payments. It was remarked on in the same article that stripping out these one off payments made the UK national average around 25k.
It is confusing at present, as a report in 2004 had the national average wage at £26k with that for professional workers at around £35k.
It could be that the effect of the minimum wage and the increase in Labour availability at the lower end of the wage market has forced the national average to fall as more people are employed on lower wages.
Considering taxes have been rising this would explain why so many middle income earners are feeling the squeeze. Unable to get the pay rises to maintain hard won differentials as the influx of cheaper labour keeps inflation down. They also see an attack on net earnings from the real inflation they face paying for council tax, increased prescriptions, dental charges, petrol and food as well as rising borrowing costs. |

Allegedly £22,000 or thereabouts. I'm way, WAY below that, so sod knows where this "average" is worked out. It's more likely to be £12,000.
The yearly wage is based on pre-tax earnings. What more do you want to know? |

its all according what job you are doing, the minimum wage, for over 18 is £5-35 per hour, times that by how many hours you work, the more skilled the job, the higher the wage. |

Legal minimum wage is £5.40 per hour. £15,000 per year is a reasonable average unless you are executive or managerial status |

Average wage above 20k per year, although that will be taking into account all the people on minimum wage along with the high earners in London! |

I think it's about £25,000 but it does depend on where you live. I think that's based on gross salary (before tax) |
