What is the day you are allowed to start filing taxes forr 2008 tax season?

IRS starts accepting e-filed returns on Jan. 16. Paper filed returns can be filed now, but IRS won't start to process them till Jan. 16.

You can file your taxes as soon as you get all your W2 forms from your employers.

if you're filing on paper and have all required forms (w-2,1099's) you can file now but if e-filing the irs aren't doing those until 01/16/2009.

The IRS will start accepting efile returns on Jan 16. Paper returns can be sent in, but they wont start processing them until Jan 16

The IRS opens the 15th. Efile and paper tax forms all starts on the 16th. I had my W2 Jackson Hewitt never told me this till the day later after I filed. Oh well what is another week.
