What is the difference between a hard pack and a soft pack of cigarettes?
What is the difference between a hard pack and a soft pack of cigarettes? What are the pros and cons of the two different type of cigarette packaging? What is more preferred and why?

One comes in a box, the other is softer. Meaning... one is squishier and easier to damage (cheaper by a tiny bit) and the other one is hard and it protects those oh-so-important cancer sticks.

drunknfaded
The difference is the package it comes in. Hard pack is better because your smokes don't break when you have the pack in your pocket.

There may be a few differences. First and most obviously the hard packs help protect your cigarettes from breaking and falling out of the pack, they are also easy to bring with you because of their effecient shape. But some cigarette companies also alter the cigarettes. For example: My cigarettes are shorter and wider when in the hard pack. Good Luck!

hard pack is like box. i can keep it in my pocket or purse and it wont get smooched. soft pack is just a paper wrapping, and i loose a lot of smokes to damage

I think the preference is purely psychological.

hard pack is just so it wont crush the cigarettes when you put it in your pocket. It just has a tougher package design. I dont smoke and i think its really stupid they have 2 types of packs for the same cigarettes. got some picky people out there i guess.

Hard packs are more preferred, because the cigarettes will not be crushed as easily, and they do not fall out of the pack.
