What is the last day to file you 2007 tax return?

Really, if you owe taxes, the last day you can file is "never". Or forever. Some non-existent date far in the future. However, the late-filing penalties are quite stiff.

If you have a refund coming, like someone else said, if you don't file by 3 years after the original due date of the return, you lose it.

Contrary to what what someone else has said here, there is no problem, penalty, or any negative effect of any kind to filing after April 15th. The most important thing is that your taxes have been paid by April 15th. The second factor is that you file an extension by April 15th. If a refund is coming your direction, the extension (or lack thereof) is not a factor in getting your refund. Filing the extension is still the wise thing to do.

If you owe money it must be paid by April 15, or you must file the installment payment plan with a down payment by that date.

You can file an extension which will give you an extension until Oct 15, 2008 to file your actual tax returns. AGAIN, it does NOT give you an extension on money owed.

Search www.irs.gov for Form 4868 for the form and instructions.

April 15th... Or you can get an automatic extension until October 15th.

Dave
if you owe them money, April 15. if they owe you money, they're happy if you never file. if they owe you you have up to 3 years to claim it.

April 15 is the very last day to file your 2007 tax return. Trust me, you don't want to go past this date!

April 15th. But you can call their toll-free number and ask for an extention if you and your tax preparer feel you need more time.

You can probably delay it until August 2008 with extensions.
