What is the sales tax total if local sales tax is 7.5% and the item cost 69.90?

Norm
75.14

69.90 X 7.5% = 5.24 Tax

69.90 plus 5.25 = 75.14

Or if the 69.90 included tax you were charged 65.02 plus 7.5% or 4.88 in tax

I'm assuming you paid a total of 69.90, and know the sales tax%, and are trying to figure out what the sales ticket price was since the question is not quite clear on this.

x(1.075) = 69.9
x = 69.9/1.075
x = 65.23

So it would be $65.23 before taxes.

cottagstan
The tax is $5.24
(Calc. $69.90 x .075 = $5.24)

mtryfena
69.90 * 1.075 = 75.145
Chances are. You'll be paying 75.15 when round up.

john_carlton04
expect to pay $75.14 or so.

69.90 X 7.5%

CXfan
all you need to do is multiplying the 7.5% which in decimal is 0.075 with 69.90. then when you get the answer which is 5.24, add the $5.24 of your sales tax on to 69.90 and you get 75.14. So if you want to know the sales tax of 7.5% for your subtotal of 69.90, the sales tax amount is $5.24. the total with the tax is $75.14
