USC, Title 26, § 6011(a) states "When required by regulations prescribed by the Secretary any person made liable for any tax imposed by this title, or with respect to the collection thereof, shall make a return or statement according to the forms and regulations prescribed by the Secretary. Every person required to make a return or statement shall include therein the information required by such forms or regulations."

USC, Title 26, § 6012 states, in part, "Returns with respect to income taxes under subtitle A shall be made by the following...Every individual having for the taxable year gross income which equals or exceeds the exemption amount..."

USC, Title 26, § 6072(a) states, in part, "In the case of returns under section 6012, 6013, 6017, or 6031 (relating to income tax under subtitle A), returns made on the basis of the calendar year shall be filed on or before the 15th day of April following the close of the calendar year..."

And you are not a slave for the first three months of the year, you are paying your share to maintain the society of which you are a part. If you don't like how your tax dollars are spent, vote for politicians who will be honest. Good luck. :) |

What part of the answers to this question the previous times it has been asked, multiple times a day most days, don't you understand? If you're just going to continue to deny that it exists, not much anyone can do to help you. |

Title 26 of the US Code.
You don't have to agree with it, you just have to comply.
If you think your tax bite is bad, move to Europe. You'll typically pay twice as much over there. I lived in Europe for 10 years. Loved it, except for the co$t! Try $3 per gallon of gas just for the tax! And sales taxes (VAT) of around 20%. |

I'm not sure that there is a law specifically stating that we must file income tax returns, but the 16th amendment states that the US has the right to tax us and to collect those taxes.
So I would say that the tax returns are a form of collecting those taxes. |
