What percentage of your paycheck goes to taxes?

Wolfpacker
6.2% social security
2.9% medicare
State's vary from 0% in TN & FL to over 13% in ME, NY & HI
Federal is 15% to $30,000
25% to $71,950
28% over $71,950
maximum 35%
It hurts to pay - mine is topping 45%.

smonical
Here's a web site that will estimate that for you...

30 percent

Mike
Rating
Nearly everyone pays 7.65% combined Social Security and Medicare, which is matched by your employer.

For 2006
Additionally, for Federal Income Tax (FIT)
Single with 1 exemption pays approximately
@ $ 20,000./ year 8.75% + 7.65% = 16.40%
@ $ 30,000./year 10.80% + 7.65% = 18.50%
@ $ 50,000./year 15.40% + 7.65% = 23.10%
@ $100,000./year 20.85% + 7.65% = 28.50%

Since you did not mention your state you may use the previous answerer's reference to calculate that, if you pay state income tax, some states don't.

If you live in NYC - sorry - you get to pay the city, too.

As much as the government wants! Sucks and though I can't put an exact amount, I think it's a lot since there are hidden taxes in everything-not just the paycheck.

Tish
FICA is 7.65%. Federal & State depend on what you're claiming.

too much

about 20%, which is TOO MUCH

yeaitsme000
That all depends on what state you live in and the amount of money you make per paycheck.
