If you earn less than the personal allowance (£6,035 if you are resident in the UK, or a greater figure depending on age) then you do not need to pay tax.
If you are deemed to owe tax, it is usually possible to agree a payment by instalments.
If you are considering not paying tax, there are integrated government departments that cross reference each other. For example, what about national insurance contributions? If you pay national insurance contributions (NI Agency now part of HMRC), it will be assumed that you earn enough to merit a discovery assessment (essentially a method to ask questions about income sources).
Dennis Healey "the difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion is the thickness of a prison wall"!
If you have earned money, and have omitted to save for the tax .. seek professional advice and contact HMRC and get something agreed. If, for example, you are employed PAYE, an amount of £2000 MAY be collected via a change in tax code given to your employer for tax you haven't paid on non-PAYE income.
Wide-ranging question with too little information.
Best of luck notwithstanding. |

Tax evasion is a crime and you can go to prison..
At the very least there are serious financial penalties. |

It actually depends upon a number of things - first, do you mean pay or file. While you are supposed to file, if you don't file and the government actually owes you a rebate, you could lose the rebate and the government will keep it.
If you are supposed to file and you owe money, they government, if they find you, can charge you with tax evasion, which is punishable by fine, imprisonment or both.
If you work under the table (all cash, no taxes withheld), this can also be considered tax evasion.
Not paying into the system can also result in confiscation of personal property (house, car, etc.). |

If you get caught you could go to prison, face massive fines, lose your house & anything else of value.
The government will grab you by the balls & make you pay one way or another. |
