A lot of people have thought they were getting direct deposit but for whatever reason aren't, so are assuming they'll get it earlier than they really are. For example, if you had a tax prep place do your return and had your fees taken out of your refund, you aren’t eligible for direct deposit.
Check your bank statement from when the original refund came - if it says "US Treasury" you should be OK for direct deposit as long as that account is still open, and you didn’t split your refund into multiple accounts. Otherwise, you’ll get a paper check. That is the most likely situation.
You are worrying unnecessarily. There were around 1500 (out of 130 million total) rebates deposited in the wrong accounts - the chances of one of those being yours is very low. Even if it was, the person wouldn't have your ss# - you either misunderstood what you read or it was reported wrong. The BANK might have it, but the PERSON wouldn't. |

If you had your a tax refund direct deposited, there is no way that your rebate would have been diverted to another account. If you received a tax refund by mail, then your will get the rebate in the mail--same address. Double-check the details at the IRS website. Call them you have more questions. |

Let's see, 100 Million stimulus refunds. 1500 refunds put in the wrong account (and fully retrievable by the IRS!) and you are just *sure* that your refund is one of them because you haven't gotten your refund yet. Oh, right. |

Those checks have all been delayed from their original projected dates due to some glitches that they had. Check for the new schedule with the IRS |

In the first lot only those whose return was processed by April 15, 2008 are getting the rebate.
Go to www.irs.gov. Click Where is my Refund? Then click Status of my Stimulus Rebate.

Contact the irs and social security office immediately. If you know the person give them a chance to rectify situation if not be willing to press charges. If you have direct deposit and you have recieved your money from the irs at that bank you need not worry since they already have the proper routing number |

firsy you need to find out if that is a fact! second you need to check to see if you got it already! see thats why ppl do direct deposit so they don't have to worry abt anything like that! those checks are being done slower than they were suppose to! |

Go straight to the IRS. The people who took your money are also the ones to charge you to find it. They will find it, do not be a double vicim of fraud. |

This is a form of paranoia. There is nothing that they can do with your social insurance number unless they hold membership in a highly convoluted gang. My friend tried to use someone else's social insurance number to purchase illegal drugs... by poising as a chemistry student but they got caught. |
