What should be done with W-2 of person who moved?
The post office delivered a W-2 to my apartment complex on Saturday which was addressed to someone who moved. I do not have a forwarding address. Someone left it on top of the mailboxes with a note telling the mail carrier to forward it. However, if the post office had a forwarding address, they would have done that already. Should I (a) ignore it and let the mail carrier decide what to do, (b) send it to the IRS, (c) return it to the employer?
Return it back to the employer. Just marked on the envelope "Addressee no longer lives here" "Return to Sender", pop it back into a mailbox. Done

Just write "Moved, return to sender" on it and drop it in the mail.

Let the mail carrier return it to the employer.
Ms. Angel..
Write on the envelope "moved left no forwarding address" the post office will return it to the return address on the envelope.

Mark it return to sender so it will go back to the employer. The employee may contact the employer to ask why he has not received his W-2 at which time he can be told it is his fault for not leaving a forwarding address.

Return to the employer. It is their obligation to notify their employees.

if you still have it stick it in an envelop and mail it to the IRS with a note no longer lives at this address forwarding address unknown.or better send it back to the employer.with the same message.that's what i would do.
