Use the money to get a financial education, look at it as an investment for your future. If you put it in a CD or a bank account you'll just about keep up with inflation. If you turn it over to a "financial manager" they'll just put it in the safest thing they can find for you. Just remember that NOBODY has your best interest in mind other than you.
Also for this year (2008) change your withholdings. Any amount the Government withholds from you is money that isn't working for you. It is working for the government, it's like giving the IRS an interest free loan for a full year. |

put it into a managed fund using shares from either China or India. China is probably most likely to grow more quickly |

Stop overpaying your taxes and put it into an investment account every payday instead of waiting to do it once a year! A tax refund means that you've already let the government use it interest free for up to 16 months. You'll never amass any wealth letting someone use your money interest free every year! |

Didn't you already ask this?!?!?!
Invest it in mutual funds.
If you put it in a retirement account (like an IRA) it will grow tax-free until you retire.
And the CD ideas are terrible. They are paying 5% if you are really lucky. 3% is more likely. |

if you get more than $2,000 back with some to spare you might want to look into putting it into a high yielding CD or money market account. |
