What weekly income would a 64 yr old couple need to live confortably in the UK
No mortgage. No debts. No kids. Non smokers and drinkers.

Even with no mortgage, no kids, no debt your still looking at council tax, which ranges between £80-£150 a month, gas £35 a month, electric £50, water £20, tv licence £11, food £350, phone/Internet and digital soon to be required -£40, i think your looking anything over £200 a week. But i guess it all really depends on the area you live in, how much time you spend at home etc. With rising household costs that will increase year by year, till everyone has to work till the day they die, retirement won't be an option!

'Comfortable' is a very relative term. Depends what your needs are, if you like holidays abroad, etc. I would say the very minimum monthly income should be around £900-£1000.

Adamappo
Do you drive? the average pension in the uk goes between £54 and £90 per week, and most elderly people manage on that, if that's anything to go by, but, they do have bus passes, which saves them a fair bit of money

According to the Governemnt it is 189.35 per week, which is the guarenteed minimum for a pensioner couple in the UK

Lenny
Well, you look like you're in a good position.

I'd say £350 at least.

well I am 64 and alone - still have a mortgage cos thats what he left me with and struggle to pay it with my pension - but I do not smoke-drive/drink or bingo the comp is my real vice. If I did not have my mortgage to pay (interest only) then around £150 a week this way I could also perhaps have a little break.

'Comfortably' in London you would need at least £750 for the 2 of you.
But that is bordeline comfort and you would be more comfortable using double that.

Outside london you may get away with using half that but I really dont know exact prices , only that its a lot cheaper.

laScorpio
depending on where you live and how big your bills are at least £250-300 per week
