What will happen if i dont pay my income tax?
income tax is a fraud. The 16th amendemnt protects us from such a tax! The law that states you must pay income taxes has not been produced for the American public. Many times people have set out to search for this document, but have come up empty handed. The government has tried to pass an income tax law twice, each time getting turned down by the Supreme Court. So why are people paying income taxes? and why do people get impriosned if they don't?

Huh? The 16th amendment says, pretty bluntly, "We can collect income tax." How do you translate that to say "We can't collect income tax"?

"ARTICLE XVI. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

One of my employees decided to stop paying his tax because he mis-interpreted the 16th amendment. His wages are now being garnished by the IRS to the tune of $21000.

the IRS is the only government agency I am truly afraid of. pay your taxes or they will make your life hell. you can fight it but ultimately they will win.

People who do not pay their faifr share only will face penalties, interest, property seizures and possible jail time. Your question is full of complete nonsense and a waste of time.

Re: What will happen if i[sic] dont[sic] pay my income tax?
You will first get several letters in the mail from the IRS. Those letters will give detailed instructions on how much you owe, what penalties have been applied and how much interest is accruing. If you ignore all of those letters, the IRS will then begin by garnishing any bank accounts you have and also by garnishing your wages. If you own a home, they will also place liens against that home. If you still ignore everything, the IRS may take you to criminal court. There, only two results can happen. First, you are convicted (most likely), you go to prison, you still owe taxes. Second, you are acquitted (not likely), but you still owe taxes. With only those two options, don't you think that NOT paying income taxes is stupid?

Re: The 16th amendemnt [sic] protects us from such a tax
Have you actually read it? Here's a link to the entire Constitution. http://www.senate.gov/civics/constitution_item/constitution.htm
The 16th amendment states, "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
How do you figure that protects you from an income tax?

Re: The law has not been produced for the American public.
BS. The law is available for everyone to read. Tax protesters proclaim that the IRS cannot show them the law, yet they are shown the law in their criminal cases repeatedly. They just refuse to believe it is law.

Title 26 is the codification of the all of the tax laws passed by Congress. Title 26 is known as "prima facie" law or evidence of the actual laws passed by Congress. You can read it at http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/26/ or at http://www.access.gpo.gov/uscode/title26/title26.html It is long and complicated, but it is all there. The courts have repeatedly said that Title 26 is law.

Re: the government has tried to pass an income tax law twice...
Where do you people come up with so much BS.
The first income tax laws in the U.S. was enacted in 1861 and was renewed every year until 1872 when Congress allowed it to lapse voluntarily. In 1880, the Supreme Court upheld the Constitutionality of the income tax law of 1864 against an individual. That case was Springer v. United States, 102 U.S. 586 (1880).

An income tax law was enacted in 1894. In 1895, in Pollock vs. Farmer's Loan, the Supreme Court declared that income tax law unconstitutional. However, the only reason it was declared unconstitutional was because it taxed income from property, i.e. rental income. The court decided that a tax on rental income was the same as a tax on the property itself and therefore a direct tax and unconstitutional. The court also decided that an income tax on wages was not direct and therefore was constitutional, but they could not separate the two taxes in the law as it was written.

Because of that decision, Congress proposed and enacted the 16th amendment in 1909. It was then sent to the States and it was ratified in 1913. The Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of income tax laws ever since.

Re: why are people paying income taxes?
Because it is the law.

Re: why do people get imprisoned if they don't?
Because they broke the law.

Usually the majority of your taxes are taken from your paycheck by your employer and his company pays them to the government for you. Unless you're running your own business, the matter is mostly out of your hands.
If you don't FILE your income taxes, you will get many letters from the state and federal government. First they'll be polite, then progressively more insistent until your case is assigned to an IRS agent who can be either helpful or confrontational. It all depends on your willingness to pay.
If (like a friend of mine) you choose to believe you don't have to pay for governmental services and refuse to pay your taxes, you WILL go to jail. You will be taken to court, lose every single thing you own, spend years in prison, have your name dragged through the mud in the press, and wind up with a permanent red flag on your name/social security number as a non-compliant criminal.

We're paying taxes because we don't believe in a "free ride"., SOMEBODY has to pay the salaries of policemen, firemen, pay for libraries, schools, roads, sewer and garbage services. SOMEBODY has to pay for our military to protect us. Do you have a friend who's a cop, or do you go to the public library? What about a disabled vet, or a mom whose husband ran off and she has no support and little kids... shall they not get help from the government since you don't pay your taxes?

We pay taxes because we as a people believe in treating people fairly, paying for what we use, and providing for the needs of ourselves and our communities.
Any organization or charismatic leader who tries to preach a
"don't pay taxes" gospel is delusional and out of touch with the reality of modern life.

If you don't pay your income tax, the IRS will come find you. They will garnish your wages, put a lien on any property you own, snap up any refunds you are entitled to in future years, and impose fines and penalties so that you owe them even more. If that sounds like fun to you, then go for it dude.
