Aggravated | What would be the best way for my husband and I to file our taxes? |
He's been working, but I quit working in March while I was pregnant and have stayed home with the baby. We have one baby. Should we file seperate or married? Can he claim the baby, me and himself? Is it better to do it online or at H&R Block? Thanks! |

I have pretty much the same situation as you. Me and my husband filed married filing jointly. He can claim you and the baby plus your income. And unless you have a lot of confusing deductions I would do your taxes yourself. |

Get advice from the IRS themselves. They'd rather you file properly than to make an error, because that backs up all their paperwork.
THere's supposed to be an 800 number to call them for specific questions like that. Call now before mid Feb. rolls around, they'll be too busy then. |

file joint also you can go to www.irs.gov and find a lot of free programs to efile with and in some cases for free |

Filing jointly is probably your best option. You'll get three exemptions - for your husband, you, and the baby. You'll also get a child tax credit for the baby. Unless you have something pretty complicated, you should be able to do it yourself - save the H&R Block money for spending on a toy for the baby (OK, or diapers). |

Your best bet is to file jointly and claim all the credits and exemptions you are entitled to. If your total income is below $38,000 then the IRS can help you prepare the return at no charge. Just call 1-800-829-0922 and ask for a local taxpayer assistance office. Don't pay someone to do your taxes if you don't have to. |

the best is to call various tax experts and see what they say,,,if you itemize you might miss something that they can help you with,,laws change every year it can be confusing for the tax deductions |

File a Married Filing Joint return. The income thresholds are higher which subjects your husband's income to lower tax rates. You and the baby are his dependents and the medical costs of pregnancy and birth and the exemptions he gets from the two of you will help lower his taxable income even further.
I would file myself online, but if you have a lot of transactions that needs to be sorted out, I would go to a professional CPA's office, and not H&R Block. |

The easiest thing to do is to file married filing jointly. You can list the baby on your joint return. |

I would just get turbo tax, they will guide you. Odds are filing joint will be the best route. Welcome to the marriage tax penalty. |
