Super Jon!
Whats the earliest you can file taxes??
i never filed before and this is my first year.

it depends. it first starts with having ur W-2(s).

if you file through traditional mail, you can file as soon as you have the tax forms. you can locate tax forms on the irs or state tax web sites sooner than when the USPS puts out printed tax forms.

If you're talking federal taxes, you can file online thru the irs. Last year, the earliers was approx. Jan 11. To file online you must meet certain criteria. last year, i received my w-2 at the end of dec. i went online to the irs, and was prepped to file first week of Jan, but couldn't because their window wasn't yet open, so the link wasn't activated. This year, the links are active, and depending on your income, you can file now online via the irs. Last year, I filed within days of the window opening, and received an electronic deposit into my account within about 2 weeks.

I also filed online with the state, but it took the state longer.

Some tax facilities will allow you to use you last check stub. There is no date you just have to have all your paperwork.

Go to www. irs.gov. There are many more details.

I think you can file right after you get your W-2's from your employer.
