You will have to claim the $600 as income when doing your taxes next year.

Everything the government does is complex, layered and usually a big scam. Welcome to the world of out of control government.

Judy1
No it isn't taxed. But you do realize that the rebate is $300 UP TO $600, and you only get $600 if your tax liability was that much?

It is not taxed, you will get the whole amount you are entitled to.

esopala16
you'll get the whole amount. i just got my $1500 today!!!

ANF
You get all of it as it is a rebate of overpaid tax. Put it into a savings account. You have managed without it up till now so make money on it with the interest.

annie c
The full amount, baby!!!!

anomaly21
Are you talking about the governments economic stimulus package? Thats not taxed, so you get the full thing.

Edit: I just read your asking this from the UK, so I do not know if its taxed for you or not, sorry.

jawz08
as i understand it...you will get the whole amount now. but next time taxes come around you have to claim that $600 and get taxed for it. so they basically gave you back some of your tax money and are going to make you pay tax's on it again
