H & R Block can not and will not file your taxes off of your last pay stub. The program this year is a line of credit. It is based on info from your last paystub but it is not filing your taxes. By law, filing your taxes can not be done until you have received your W-2 forms!! If by mid-February you have not received your W-2 forms then you can use your last pay stub. The earliest the IRS will accept e-file returns is mid-January.

Several of the above answers are correct. On thing I did not see mentioned that could delay refunds is last minute changes to the tax law. Last year Congress made changes to the tax law late in the year and the IRS did not have time to reprogram and test their computers for the new rules before the beginning of January. Last I heard, there were changes related to the AMT still under consideration this year. If any changes pass between now and the end of the year, we can expect similar issues.

January 1, but that's only by mail so will probably take 6 weeks or so to get your refund. If you wait until efiles are accepted (mid January sometime) and have your refund deposited to your bank account, you'll have it in about 2 weeks or less.

Of course, you can't file until you have all of your tax paperwork like W-2's.

Electronically......Mid-January. I was told January 11th by someone.

If you file by mail before 1/11 you probably wouldn't get your refund until early to mid-February. Your best bet is to wait until mid-January and file electronically.

H&R Block will do it off of your last check pay stub. there are some 'fine print' items to go over but they are the only ones that I know will do it before you get your actual w-2's. then depending on how much you want to pay in regards to HOW FAST you want your money, they have those options too.

The IRS doesn't start processing 1040 returns until 1/16 or so. (They save the returns that come in earlier.)

For this year, they may not be able to process anything but 1040EZ and 1040A with no children at first due to last minute tax law changes.

While some companies will due a loan, the fees are excessive! And a disaster if the actual refund turns out to be less than expected.

After Jan 1, as soon as you have your w-9 and other tax forms you can file.

You can do it in Dec w/ your last payck stub. You probably will get back less by doing this. H and R block can probably help you w/this. Instead of issuing you a ck they give you a debit card of some sort.
