Wisdom Herbs | When it comes to taxes...do you have to enter ALL w2's? ? |
Is it true that you can skip one if it's VERY small and for a short amt of time
? |

No, it's not true. You must report all income earned in 2008.
When you sign your tax return, you are swearing "Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this return, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is true, correct, and accurately lists all amounts and sources of income I received during the tax year. "
If you know about that W-2, but don't report it on purpose, you are committing the crime of perjury.
I don't even know why you'd want to skip it. If it's very small, it should make a minimal difference on your taxes for the year. |

No, you can't. You can't and you shouldn't, because ALL your W-2s are being sent to the IRS. If they compare your return with the W-2s they've received and see that they don't match, your refund will be held up while they investigate.
It's pretty much always to your advantage to be honest when dealing with the IRS. |

W-2's get reported to the IRS so you need to report all of them.

It's illegal to file a tax return until you have received all of your W-2s.
That one W-2 could cause you to owe back tax because of an increase in income without having enough tax withheld.
Just DONT do it.

It is best not to. It adds to the overall amount of income and taxes paid or not. Some small checks are not taxed by the employer, but the income when added to others can lead to a small additional tax. The worse thing you can do in life is mess up on taxes, and have to deal with an audit. All w2 totals are entered, or if you do it online, it has you put in the info for each one, it asks one after the other in the add more employer part once you have completed one of them.
It is not amounts and times its the overall combination. Same goes for the state taxes. |

You should report all your income. Why even take a chance on messing with the IRS. If what you submit doesn't match with what they have for info, your form could get flagged to be checked. At minimum, you might get a fine, at maximum, you could get audited. Why would you gamble with some small amount of money for that? |

if you dont file all w2's you take a very high risk of getting audited, no matter how insignificant you think it might be. as others have said, they already know what you should be filing. |

ALL W-2s. |

Enter all of them. If you don't have one on hand, because the employer didn't send it, try to estimate, but don't skip it. |

No you don't have to file all W2's its better if you do, just because you paid taxes in you are entitled to get them back but if they are of little amount and really hold no significance to you personally then it is o.k. to leave them out... |
