Just wondering how that works since the baby will only be about a month old when it's time to file taxes. |

Yes, you will be able to claim your son when you file your 2008 taxes. My son was born December 30th and my tax preparer thought it was so funny that I got him in at the last minute. |

If your child is born any time in 2008, you will receive all tax benefits for that child. In particular, you would receive the full amount of the Child Tax Credit you were eligible for.
Plus, you will get the "stimulus" payment of $300 based on the child's exemption. |

Yes as long as it is on or before Dec 31st |

As long as the baby is born anytime in 2008, yes you get the full exemption and also the Child Tax Credit. |

Tika
|
Yes. As long as the baby is born within that year before you file I believe you can file that child. The child was an expense before it is born so that is all included. |

doesn't matter when in the yr the child is born as long as it is born before midnight on 12/31, you can claim the child for the whole yr. My son is a 12/29 kid and they said (IRS) that it counts for the whole yr. |

Yes, as long as your child was born before December 31, 2008 you may claim your child as a dependent and therefore be eligible for a Child Tax Credit. It works the same as if you were getting married- so long as you are married before the end of the year you can filed jointly as a married couple. |
