When should I receive my delayed refund check? I was supposed to get it direct deposit on 2/16, but didn't.
The IRS website is saying that is WAS direct deposited, but that's wrong. I rechecked my account # and the banks routing # and everything is correct on my e-filed tax form. They keep saying to wait until the 21st and if it's not there then to contact IRS. I can't wait that long. I have bills that need to be paid NOW. It's the weekend so I can't do anything about it now, but can anyone tell e when I SHOULD be receiving it? If not 16th, then when?

Check with your bank, they post the deposits at different times of the day

Did you have your tax prepared by a company that takes your preparation fees out of your return rather than paying up front? If so, then your return will go to THEIR bank first, the fees will be deducted, then the rest will go to your account. If this is the case, call the preparer and ask when you'll get it, the IRS is out of it once they send it.

Hi, depending on who you bank with they may show the deposit today. If you bank online at all then log into your account and see if you show any pending transactions. The reality is that banks make money by holding your money as long as they can. One person's deposit makes no difference, but imagine the interest that they collect on holding thousands of direct deposits of even a thousand dollars each times roughly 250 business days annually. If your bank doesn't show the deposit this morning and you can print out the IRS's page that shows the direct deposit (go to IRS.gov and Where is My Refund link) was made then I would print it out and take it into the bank this morning and have a COW! If your bank isn't open today then do it Monday. I have had to do this once before and amazingly :-)) they found it right away. I know what it's like waiting for the direct deposit from the IRS and others. Yikes! One more tip - credit unions don't have this practice. I split my paycheck direct deposit between my credit union and my bank account and my credit union shows up 1 to 2 days earlier every time. It may be worthwhile for you to open up a credit union account for just this purpose for next years taxes. They usually have better service, too. Unfortunately they typically don't have as many branches and their hours are less convenient. I hope that helps. Good luck!

The IRS most likely did deposit the money into your account. It can sometimes take your bank up to 2 days to recognize the deposit. They have to upload the information of electronic deposits. Unfortunately Monday is a holiday for most banks. I would imagine that by Tuesday afternoon you will see your money in the account. The IRS will help you trace the money beginning next Friday if you have not received the money yet.
IRS : 1-800-829-1040
Good Luck

We also had a direct deposit of 2/16 and we had ours yesterday morning bright and early deposited into our account. Your money should of been there because I have found through the years and dealing with tons of returns, when the IRS posts a direct deposit date on their website, and you have the money deposited straight into your bank account, the money is ALWAYS there on that same day. If you went through a tax preparer like the other poster said, they get the money first and take out any filing fees and THEN the money is deposited to your account. If that was the case, you probably won't see the money until the end of next week since Monday is a holiday. So sorry--that must be so disappointing not to have the funds in your account the day that you expected them to be there. :(

Things are definitely different this year. The IRS is delaying refunds for additional review. I was supposed to receive a deposit on 1/26 and I have been waiting ever since. You cannot go by what the IRS.gov system tells you. You need to call them.

Usually they will release the refund in 2-4 weeks. In my case, I am expecting a letter and who knows when or if I will receive my refund.

Good luck...

I am in the same boat.....the IRS website says a direct deposit was made on the 16th, of course i called my bank and they said nothing was deposited nor is anything pending.....i have been reading posts about this all day and i can't seem to get a clear answer....this is just RIDICULOUS.....it's our money and the IRS gets to play games with it once again.......i think we just have to be patient and wait!!!

The IRS releases funds on Weds. of each week. Depending on the financial institutions that will be handling your transaction it will take one to two days to process the funds. When the IRS will release the funds is a bit difficult to determine but you can get that information from their web site. If they have released the funds and it is not in your account in two days you have a "big" problem. If the funds are misdirected it will take months to resolve that issue. You should start with the IRS to verify that they have transmitted the funds, followed by your bank. In the middle of that process there is likely another bank but that can only be determined by the system you used to file the return. Good luck!
